Description

Godwin’s design for this corner cabinet is held by the Victoria & Albert Museum (AAD 4/13–1963) and is dated 23 April 1874. From the study of the sketch book we understand that it was designed for a cottage, the furnishings of which were to be made by the Collinson & Lock company. Furthermore, the designer had suggested furnishing the upper part with a vase.

Another substantially identical cabinet is located in a private collection in New York: the two corner cabinets probably had to form a pair, intended for the same apartment.
