Description

Godwin’s design for this corner cabinet, is held by the Victoria & Albert Museum (AAD 4/13–1963) and is dated 23 April 1874. From the sketch book we can see it was designed for a cottage, with the cabinet makers being Collinson & Lock Co. Furthermore, the designer had suggested placing a vase on the top shelf.

Another largely identical cabinet is in a private collection in New York: these two corner cabinets had probably formed a pair, and were intended for the same dwelling.
