ANTONIO CORRADINI, 1688-1752
Corradini was an eighteenth-century Venetian sculptor celebrated for his works in marble and alabaster. He trained under the tutelage of Giuseppe Toretti, thanks to whom he developed a distinctive style that combines Baroque elegance with a sense of realism and pathos.
One of his most famous masterpieces is “il Velario”, a white marble sculpture of a woman wrapped in a translucent veil, on show at the Galleria dell’Accademia in Venice.
The artist worked mainly in Venice, although he moved both to Naples and Vienna to carry out works commissioned by local nobility.
He died in 1752, leaving us an important artistic legacy.
