From 13 to 16 October 2026, Palazzo Butera will host Arteficial 2026, the new edition of the experiment promoted by Arteficium, a project dedicated to creating opportunities for encounter, research and reflection through the relationship between the arts, knowledge and place.
Following its first edition in 2025, Arteficial returns to Palermo for four days centred around an apparently simple question: “What is worth…?”
What is worth paying attention to? What is worth remembering, creating, repairing, fighting for or imagining? Starting from these questions, participants will be invited to explore different dimensions of worth and value, and the ways in which individuals and communities construct, recognise and transform what matters to them.
The experience will not be limited to moments of discussion. Palazzo Butera, the Francesca and Massimo Valsecchi Collection, Palermo’s historic city centre and Sicily will themselves become sources of observation and inspiration, offering different contexts in which to explore themes, methods and perspectives.
The programme is conceived as a journey of exploration: participants will be invited to move through different places and atmospheres, gathering thoughts, impressions and emotions that will gradually come together through moments of reflection and the creation of collective narratives.
Arteficial thus offers an experience in which observation, movement, conversation and reflection are intertwined, making the context in which it takes place not simply a setting, but an essential part of the process.
