In 2019, once the restoration work on the second floor of Palazzo Butera was completed, Tremlett proposed a solution for the rooms overlooking Via Butera, which were to be given a new museum function.

Description

Tremlett’s wall ceilings have been a recurring theme in his work since the early 1980s. Given the artist’s longstanding relationship with Francesca and Massimo Valsecchi, his involvement in the Palazzo Butera project is significant in several aspects.

The artist carried out several interventions on the second floor of the building, starting with the four ceilings. The colors were chosen for their simplicity and harmony, with the aim of allowing the works to go almost unnoticed in this case. The rooms in which they are located were not originally intended to be decorated, so the contemporary reinterpretation tried to respect the essentiality of the building’s former residential functions.
