Room 2

Room 2

A work by Anne and Patrick Poirier is to the right of the entrance.

The rest of the room is entirely dedicated to two artists: Eugenio Ferretti and David Tremlett.

The two series of Ferretti works are the grey Atrofie (1988-1989) and the black Notturni (1989-1990).

Tremlett’s four pastels rework experiences, colors, motifs and shapes absorbed during trips to Africa, Mexico and India.

A new staircase, made of iron and treads of up-lit glass, wraps around the single pillar supporting the vaults. At the top, a narrow walkway leads to the mezzanine gallery. The design is intended as an Architectural Promenade providing an alternative perspective on the shape of the exhibition rooms and the works presented in them.

In the up-floor gallery are displayed the photographs of Thomas Joshua Cooper resulting from long research on sacred sites through the dark.
